Gravity Wave

Project Info

2008
Illustrating the idea of a gravity wave, a warp in the fabric of space-time, this wall-mounted work seems to deform and dematerialize the brick wall of the Center’s lobby, creating the illusion of a hole. Embedded within the sculpture’s matrix “shock waves” are objects that relate to the different scientific disciples studied in this facility: biochemistry, molecular and environmental biology, biology, botany, astronomy, geology, engineering, chemistry and environmental science.
