Illustrating the concept of the Speed of Thought, a contemplative head rests upon the globe and emanates a “digital flow” of thoughts, data and ideas that race upward into space and dissipate into the atmosphere. The Brainstorm image has had a long history in the work of Brower Hatcher. Like many reoccurring figures that began as gallery pieces of a smaller scale, Brainstorm was recreated as large-scale public art. Dealing with the themes of Time and Space, this version also addresses the relationship of the earthbound figure to space, here telecommuting into the unknown via their thoughts and digital information.
