Local turn-of-the-century park icons were recreated in a contemporary manner, symbolizing optimism and progress as part of the city’s revitalization effort. The fountain Wellspring stands as the centerpiece of the park’s renovation, referencing the original from the 1800’s. Hatcher’s design also included a domed performance pavilion titled Oculus, park furniture and a children’s play area consisting of six 3’-high cast-bronze Black Squirrels (the city icon).
